My name is Henry Lee, I am a 7th generation, 17-year-old cabinet maker and aspiring arborist.

I started Blockworks uk to provide quality stabilised handle material to makers at a competitive price, since opening in February 2021 things have really expanded, I have stated importing some of the finest rosewoods and ebony's, exhibition grade Australian hardwood and some of the best dyed wood in the UK. I have continued to improve the stabilisation process and have established connections around the globe to acquire the best possible selection of timbers. I stock hundreds of different woods from around the world and everything is done by me, milling, drying, stabilising, and selling.

I started woodturning at the start of the first UK lockdown and fell in love with it, since that time I have continued to rapidly expand. I got talking to a few young knife makers who encouraged me to start this adventure.

As wood is a scarce resource, I only buy from small sawmills who focus on quality not quantity. Before I make any purchase, I check where the wood has come from, how it was harvested and how old it is. I will only purchase wood that has either been reclaimed or very sustainably sourced, sometimes I have the option to buy old stock which has been in the UK for at least 30 years and is pre-CITIES

CITIES is an international agreement to which States, and regional economic integration organisations adhere voluntarily. I continue to fully support CITES and liaise with our UK office when required. I obtain all the correct documents/permits where necessary, if you would like to know more or have any questions, please feel free to ask.
