Curly Siamese Rosewood

£125.00

Siamese rosewood

Siamese rosewood is now one of the most coveted rosewoods on the planet and also one of the most heavily protected.

These trees can now not be felled at all and can only be reclaimed from naturally fallen trees with a very restricted permit.

This was purchased from old stock from a luthiers workshop

Getting good pieces of Siamese rosewood is almost unheard of and with figure like this is so rare it’s ridiculous.

All rosewoods share qualities that make them prized for knife handles. They are durable, fine grained, water resistant and polish to a beautiful finish. All the rosewood i sell is natural, and has not been stabilised as it doesn’t require it.

Rosewood colors are more stable than those of many other woods, but light and oxygen will fade them in time. Luckily, rosewoods maintain contrast and often tone down to more muted hues of their original colors rather than going to drab brown or black like many other woods do. If this happens, a simple light sanding with 800-1000 grit sandpaper and a buff will restore the original color.
